What is Deliverance

  • Freedom from bondage
    Deliverance is being set free from bondage, oppression, and spiritual darkness through the power of God. It goes beyond simply being forgiven of sin and breaks chains and strongholds that try to hold a person back from living in the fullness of God’s purpose.
    “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36

  • The example of Jesus
    In Scripture, Jesus cast out demons, healed the oppressed, and broke curses, showing that He came to bring liberty to the captives.
    “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me... He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” — Luke 4:18

  • Authority given to the disciples
    Jesus gave His disciples authority to drive out unclean spirits and heal the sick, continuing His mission to set people free.
    “He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.” — Matthew 10:1

  • A biblical warning
    The Bible warns that if an unclean spirit leaves and finds no place to rest, it may return with seven others more wicked than itself. This is why it is vital to stay filled with the Holy Spirit and rooted in God’s Word.
    “Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.” — Matthew 12:45

  • Walking in victory
    True deliverance restores peace, clarity, and wholeness, allowing believers to walk in victory and authority through the Holy Spirit as they remain surrendered to God.
    “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 15:57

Deliverance is God’s powerful work of setting people free from spiritual bondage and oppression. It is part of the ministry of Jesus and continues through His followers today, bringing freedom, healing, and restoration through the Holy Spirit.
